We introduce the problem of minimizing the volume of Lagrangian submanifolds under Hamiltonian deformations in Kähler manifolds. We state the corresponding Euler-Lagrange equation and derive its second variation formula. We apply this second variation formula to study the stability property of the standard Lagrangian tori \(S^ 1(r_ 1)\times \cdots \times S^ 1(r_ n)\) in \(\mathbb{C}^ n\) which turn out to satisfy the above Euler-Lagrange equation. We prove that the second variation is (semi)-positive and that the null space is the span of normal projections of the infinitesimal holomorphic isometries of \(\mathbb{C}^ n\) which is isomorphic to the Lie algebra \(su(n)\odot \mathbb{C}^ n\). This in particular proves that these tori are isolated local minima (up to isometries) of volume inside the Hamiltonian deformations.
