Within the framework of three-dimensional linearized stability theory of deformable bodies, the nonaxisymmetric problem of biaxial compression of a semiinfinite material along a circular crack parallel to the free surface is considered. Calculations are undertaken separately for the cases of equal and unequal roots of the characteristic equation.
