For ordinary partitions represented by Ferrers graphs, conjugation is a fundamental involution. A \(p\)-regular partition is one whose parts are repeated less than \(p\)-times. In 1979 Mullineux defined an involution on \(p\)-regular partitions by considering certain symbols attached to such partitions. In this paper, by classifying the Mullineux symbols for a class of \(p\)-regular partitions, two conjectures in the representation theory of symmetric groups \(S_ n\) are shown to be compatible.
