    In drei Abschnitten behandelt die Verf. vom platonischen Gesichtspunkt aus gesehen die alte Frage, ob die mathematischen Ergebnisse Erfindungen oder Entdeckungen seien. I. Allgemeine philosophische Fragen und die Natur der Mathematik. II. Methodische Fragen betreffend die Beweise und die logische Bedeutung der Axiome. Verhältnis von Beweisen zur allgemeinen Erkenntnis. III. Gibt es außer dem beweisenden Verfahren einen anderen Zugang zum Erkennen von mathematischen Ergebnissen? Abschließend wird das Verhältnis der Mathematik zur Soziologie und zur Umwelt besprochen.
