Let \(A\) be a commutative integral domain and \(A[n]\) the polynomial ring in \(n\) variables with coefficients in \(A\) and \(A(n)\) the Nagata ring in \(n\) variables, i.e. the localization of \(A[n]\) in the multiplicative system \(S\) of all those polynomials such that the ideal generated by the coefficients is \(A\). An example of a two-dimensional quasi-local domain is given such that \(A(n)\) is catenary and \(A[n]\) is not catenary for all \(n\).
