Extending the four-vertex theorem for regular convex space curves proved by the second author in [Funct. Anal. Appl. 26, No. 1, 28-32 (1992); translation from Funkts. Anal. Prilozh. 26, No. 1, 35-41 (1992; Zbl 0777.53004)], the authors prove that for a simple closed convex space curve \[ 3S + 2K + V \geq 4, \] where \(V\) denotes the number of vertices, \(K\) the number of zero curvature points and \(S\) the number of singular points of the curve. The authors also give a (non-exhaustic) list of examples for which above inequality is sharp.
