It is well known that the nucleus of a Moufang loop is normal. Since Moufang loops are special kinds of Bol loops (they are precisely those Bol loops that are di-associative), an interesting open question has been whether or not this normality result extends to Bol loops. The authors resolve the matter by presenting a class of Bol loops whose nuclei are not normal.
