The authors define the notion of fusion for a certain category of representations of (untwisted) quantum affine algebras, generalising results of the first author and \textit{G. Lusztig} on the classical affine case [Tensor structures arising from affine Lie algebras. I--IV, J. Am. Math. Soc. 6, 905-947, 949-1011 (1993; Zbl 0786.17017); 7, 335-381, 383-453 (1994; Zbl 0802.17007, Zbl 0802.17008)]. Their main result is the construction of the quasi-associativity constraints. The main differences from the classical affine case are the appearance of elliptic curves instead of genus zero curves, and of \(\mathbb{Z}\)-sheaves instead of bundles with flat connections.
