[For part I see ibid. 176, No. 1, 23-44 (1996; reviewed above).] It is continued the study of the equation \({\partial u\over \partial t} {\partial\over \partial x} (H(x) f(u)(1- H(x)) g(u))= 0\), where \(H\) is Heviside's step function. The discontinuity of the flux function at \(x= 0\) causes a discontinuity of a solution, which is not uniquely determined by the initial data. A viscous profile of this discontinuity is a stationary solution of \(u_t(F^\delta)_x= \varepsilon u_{xx}\), where \(F^\delta\) is a smooth approximation of the discontinuous flux, i.e. \(H\) is smoothed. Some results of the stability of the viscous profiles are obtained. This is done by weighted energy methods, where the weight (depending on \(f\) and \(g\)) plays a crucial role.
