Let \(S\) be a semigroup with zero. \(S\) is called left absolutely flat if every left \(S^1\)-set is flat. A map \(\mu_L : S \to N^0\) is a finite height function if the following two conditions are satisfied: 1) \(\mu_L (s) = 0\) if and only if \(s = 0\), 2) \(\mu_L(s) = n\) if there is a chain of \(n\) left principal ideals \(Ss = Ss_0 \supset Ss_1 \supset \ldots \supset Ss_n = \{0\}\), but there is no such chain with \(n + 1\) left principal ideals. It is proved that if \(S\) is a regular semigroup with a finite height function and \(I\) is an absolutely flat left ideal of \(S\) such that the factor semigroup \(S/I\) has certain additional properties, then \(S\) itself is left absolutely flat. As a consequence, it is shown that the semigroup \(\Lambda (S)\) of all right translations of a primitive regular semigroup \(S\) with only finitely many \(\mathcal R\)-classes (with compositions being from left to right) is absolutely flat. Some examples of semigroups which are amalgamation bases are presented.
