The paper provides us with the exhaustive study of the Dirichlet type boundary value problems for the Poisson equation in periodically perforated domains. The stress is put on the asymptotic behaviour of solutions, as well as of eigenvalues and eigenfunctions for such problems, for various relations between two small parameters: the perforation period and the size of the holes. For operators \(\Delta\) and \(\Delta^2\) the spatial perforation is considered and, moreover, for operator \(\Delta\) the perforation near the boundary is studied. Some spectral properties for these boundary value problems are proved with the use of general methods for the investigation of spectra of singularly perturbed operators which were developed in papers by O. A. Oleinik, A. S. Shamaev, and G. A. Yiosifian.
