The steady flow of an incompressible viscous fluid has been considered between concentric cylinders when the inner cylinder is rotating and the outer one is at rest. The flow is taken to be axisymmetric and periodic in the axial direction. At a critical point \((m,n)\), the eigenfunctions of the operator, linearized around the exact solution of the Couette flow, consist of \(m\) and \(n\) axial waves. Numerical solutions of the Navier-Stokes system near the double critical point confirm that the reduced bifurcation equations reduce the qualitative behaviour adequately.
