The authors use the term ``Jacobi polynomial'' to denote certain polynomials in two variables which arise from doubly-even selfdual codes in analogy with Jacobi theta series of euclidean lattices. As in the well-known one-variable case (Hamming weight enumerators and elliptic modular forms), there is a unitary reflection group under which the polynomials are invariant, a Gleason-type theorem for the invariant ring and a map into the ring of Jacobi forms. Further study of this map is announced.
