Eine partielle Geometrie \(M=pg(s+1, t+1, \alpha)\) ist eine Inzidenzstruktur, die den folgenden Bedingungen genügt: (i) Jede Gerade trägt \(s+1\) Punkte und jeder Punkt liegt auf \(t+ 1\) Geraden. (ii) Je zwei Geraden treffen einander in höchstens einem Punkt, und je zwei Punkte inzidieren mit höchstens einer Geraden. (iii) Ist \(x\) ein nicht mit der Geraden \(L\) inzidenter Punkt, so existiert durch \(x\) eine Gerade, die \(L\) in einem Punkt trifft. Ist \(G\) eine auf den Punkten von \(M\) reguläre Gruppe von Automorphismengruppen von \(M\), so kann man die Punkte von \(M\) mit den Elementen von \(G\) identifizieren; bezeichnen \(L_1, \dots, L_{t+1}\) die mit \(1\in G\) inzidenten Geraden von \(M\), so sind die übrigen Geraden die Mengen \(gL_i\), \(i=1, \dots, t+1\), mit \(g\in G\). Der Verfasser zeigt, daß \(M\) ein Translationsnetz ist, wenn es eine der folgenden Bedingungen erfüllt: (1) \(G\) ist das direkte Produkt zweier nichttrivialer Gruppen teilerfremder Ordnungen, und jede Gerade \(L_i\), \(i=1, \dots, t+1\), ist invariant unter der Inversion der Elemente von \(G\). (2) \(G\) ist abelsch, es gilt \(s=1\) und eine mit \(1\in G\) inzidente Gerade ist invariant unter der Inversion. Außerdem wird bewiesen, daß für abelsche Gruppen \(G\) im Falle \(s=t\) und \(\alpha<s\), die Zahl \(\alpha\) gerade sein muß.
