A quantum group in a braided category is an algebra with two different braided Hopf algebra structures with comultiplications satisfying some compatibility conditions. The author constructs crossed products for braided Hopf algebras and braided quantum groups. He applies his previous work on crossed modules over braided Hopf algebras to study braided quantum groups. He obtains criteria for a braided Hopf algebra or a braided quantum group to be a cross product. He generalizes transmutation, which is a kind of adjoint to bosonization, i.e., from an ordinary Hopf algebra one obtains a braided Hopf algebra. He defines a ribbon Hopf algebra in a ribbon category so that the category of modules is also ribbon. Finally he shows that the cross product and transmutations constructions when applied to ribbon Hopf algebras yield ribbon Hopf algebras.
