Let \(X\) be a smooth projective complex threefold with Néron-Severi group \(NS(X) \simeq \mathbb{Z}\) and \(f\) be a nonconstant morphism from \(X\) to a 3-dimensional quadric \(Q\). The author proves that \(f\) is finite and its degree is bounded in terms of the Chern numbers of \(X\) and of the index \(r\) of \(X\) (i.e. \(K_X \equiv rH\) where \(H\) is the ample generator of \(NS(X))\). In particular, if \(X\) is a smooth cubic threefold there are no nonconstant morphisms from \(X\) to \(Q\). The main tool used in the proof is a Miyaoka bound for the number of double points of a surface.
