Series of real terms with alternating sign are transformed by separating the odd and even order terms, and transforming each of the two resulting series with terms of the same sign by use of the Euler-Maclaurin formula. It is suggested that the required derivatives of the terms should be obtained with the help of a computer algebra package. Comparisons with direct methods for the transformation of series of real terms with alternating sign (e.g. repeated application of the \(\varepsilon\)-algorithm) are not given.
