The author accomplishes a rather thorough and very well designed survey of the intensive study of monotonically normal spaces by many topologists, and he also puts in proper context a variety of questions on this topic which remain open. This is certainly the survey which should be read by all who wish to work on questions which are related to monotonically normal spaces. The connections to many other classes of spaces are clearly outlined.
