The character formulae of any finite dimensional irreducible module for \({\mathfrak gl} (m|n)\) is given via recursively defined operators on weights, or via ``Kazhdan-Lusztig'' polynomials for \({\mathfrak gl}(m|n)\) defined by the author. The results were conjectured by the author [in Adv. Sov. Math. 16, 151-165 (1993; Zbl 0795.17033)]. Resolvents and tensor product functors are studied along with characters. Cohomologies of \(GL(m |n)\)-sheaves on the supergrassmanians are essential for the proof.
