The paper defines a generalization \(\int_0^b x^\lambda (x^2+p)^\nu (1-x^2/b^2)^\mu F(\alpha, \beta;\gamma;-a^2/(x^2+p)) dx\) of the Hubbell rectangular source integral, where \(F\) is the Gauss hypergeometric function. An approximation of the Gauss function obtained by the tau method is employed in the evaluation of the integral, and upper bound estimates on the tau error are given.
