The authors consider an approach for the computation of waves generated by an isolated source. This is accomplished by using a Cauchy initial value problem in a bounded interior region, characteristic hypersurfaces in the exterior and then using a suitable matching technique. Both linear and nonlinear problems are considered and presented with experimental data.
