The optimal generalized predictive control law (GPC) and some properties of GPC in relationship with tuning parameters are discussed. A set of theorems on GPC, resulting in deadbeat control within the internal model control structure (IMC) are given. The presentation is based on the coefficient mapping of the explicit eigenpolynomial from the plant to the closed-loop GPC system. The approach provides an alternative way to reducing the order of closed-loop GPC and deadbeat control, as well to the study of GPC systems stability and other general properties of GPC within the IMC structure.
