Extending the results in [\textit{L. C. Evans}, `Weak convergence methods for nonlinear partial differential equations' (Regional Conference Series in Mathematics 74, AMS, Providence) (1990; Zbl 0698.35004)] for \(p\geq 2\), the author shows for \(1<p<2\), that the \(p\)-harmonic heat flow on closed Riemannian manifolds has a global weak solution.
