The author continues the investigation of the partial orders \(\leq_{\text{deg}}\) and \(\leq_{\text{ext}}\) on the set of isomorphism classes of finite dimensional \(A\)-modules [see \textit{A. Skowroński, G. Zwara}, Can. J. Math. 48, No. 5, 1091-1120 (1996; Zbl 0867.16006), \textit{G. Zwara}, Colloq. Math. 72, No. 2, 281-303 (1997; Zbl 0890.16006)]. The former is induced by degenerations of modules while the latter compares two \(A\)-modules \(M\) and \(N\) if there are short exact sequences of \(A\)-modules \(0\to U_i\to M_i\to V_i\to 0\) such that the conditions \(M=M_1\), \(M_{i+1}=U_i\oplus V_i\) for \(1\leq i\leq s\), and \(N=M_{s+1}\) hold for some natural number \(s\) [\textit{K. Bongartz}, Adv. Math. 121, No. 2, 245-287 (1996; Zbl 0862.16007)]. The main objective of the paper under review is the question whether the partial orders \(\leq_{\text{deg}}\) and \(\leq_{\text{ext}}\) coincide for a representation-finite biserial algebra \(A\) [\textit{K. Fuller}, Lect. Notes Math. 734, 64-90 (1979; Zbl 0411.16023)]. The author gives a complete answer to the question raised. More precisely, he describes several equivalent conditions in terms of the Auslander-Reiten quiver \(\Gamma_A\) under which there exist \(A\)-modules \(M\) and \(N\) such that \(M\leq_{\text{deg}}N\) and \(M\not\leq_{\text{ext}}N\).
