    The author continues his study of degenerate parabolic equations [Algebra Anal. 6, No. 4, 101-142 (1994; Zbl 0817.35046)]. He studies a special case of doubly nonlinear parabolic equations, so-called equations of the type of fast diffusion \[ u_t= \text{div } a(x,t,u,\nabla u) + a_0(x,t,u,\nabla u), \qquad (x,t)\in Q_T=\Omega \times (0,T], \Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^n. \] It is assumed that for any \(u\in \mathbb{R}\), \(p\in \mathbb{R}^n\) and a.e. \((x,t)\in Q_T\) \[ \begin{aligned} a(x,t,u,p)p &\geq \nu_0| u| ^l| p| ^m - \phi_0, \;\nu_0>0,\\ | a(x,t,u,p)| &\leq \mu_1| u| ^l| p| ^{m-1}+\phi_1| u| ^{\alpha}, \alpha =l/m,\\ | a_0(x,t,u,p)| &\leq \mu_2| u| ^{lm'}| p| ^m+\phi_2, \;1/m +l/m'=1, \end{aligned} \] here \(\nu_0\), \(l\geq 0\), \(\mu_i, \phi_j \) are some positive constants, \(1<m\), \(m+l < 2\), and that for every weak solution \(u\) the functions \((u-k)^{\pm}\), \(k\geq 0\) are weak supersolutions for the above equation where \(a(x,t,u,\nabla u)\), \(a_0(x,t,u,\nabla)\) are replaced by \(\pm a(x,t,u,\nabla (u-k)^{\pm}\chi\{(u-k)^{\pm}>0\}\), \(\pm a_0(x,t,u,\nabla (u-k)^{\pm}\chi\{(u-k)^{\pm}>0\}\), respectively. Under the above assumptions, Hölder estimates for weak solutions of doubly nonlinear equations of the type of fast diffusion are established.
