A partial integral operator is acting in the Banach space \(C= C([a,b]\times [c,d])\) by the formula \[ \begin{multlined} (Ax)(t, s)= c(t,s)x(t, s)+ \int^b_a l(t,s,\tau)x(\tau, s)d\tau+\\ \int^d_c m(t,s,\sigma) x(t,\sigma)d\sigma+ \int^b_a \int^d_c n(t,s,\tau,\sigma) x(\tau,\sigma)d\sigma d\tau,\end{multlined} \] where \(c\), \(l\), \(m\), \(n\) are real-valued measurable functions defined on the corresponding sets. Necessary and sufficient conditions are given for this operator to act in the space \(C\). It is proved that ``acting property'' implies boundedness of the operator. The authors discuss some algebras and ideals of such operators considered as subspaces of the algebra of all bounded linear operators acting in \(C\).
