Let \(r\) be a rational function of degree \(n\) with poles outside the unit disc \({\mathbf D}\). The author constructs a certain method of pseudoanalytic extension for such functions \(r\) and obtains some inequalities. A new simple proof of Bernstein-type inequalities \(|r|_{B_p^s({\mathbf T})} \leq C n^s |r|_{L^q({\mathbf T})}\) and \(|r|_{B_p^{1/p}({\mathbf T})}\leq C n^{1/p} |r|_{\text{BMO}({\mathbf T})}\) are given. Here \(B_p^s({\mathbf T})\) is the usual Besov space on the unit circle \({\mathbf T}\), the constant \(C\) does not depend on \(n\), \(p>0\), and in the first inequality, \(q\geq 1\), \(s= p^{-1} - q^{-1}> 0\). The main theorem asserts that \(|f|_{L^p({\mathbf C}\setminus {\mathbf D})} \leq C(p) n^{1/2} |r|_{L^p({\mathbf D})}\), where \(p\geq 2\) and \(f=r B^{-1}\), \(B\) being the Blaschke product of degree \(n+2\) with the same poles as \(r\) itself and two additional poles at infinity. By using this area estimate the author obtains the following inversion of the Sobolev embedding theorem: \(|r|_{W_q^1({\mathbf D})} \leq C(p) n |r|_{L^p({\mathbf D})}\), \(p>2\), \(q^{-1}=p^{-1}+2^{-1}\). This estimate implies a new inverse theorem for rational approximation of analytic functions with respect to the area \(L^p\) norm.
