Let \(k\) be an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero, and let \(k[\Delta]=k[x_1,\dots,x_n]/I_{\Delta}\) be the Stanley-Reisner ring of a simplicial complex \(\Delta\) with vertices \(1,\dots,n\). The purpose of this paper is to describe the group \(L=\text{Aut}_{\text{gr}}k[\Delta]\) of automorphisms of \(k[\Delta]\) preserving the grading. The author proves that \(L=(U\rtimes H)\rtimes F\) with a unipotent algebraic group \(U\), a product of a general linear groups \(H\), and a finite group \(F\). Since these groups can be read from the simplicial complex, one obtains criteria for \(L\) to be reductive or connected. Moreover, in case \(k={\mathbb{C}}\) it is shown that \(H\rtimes F\) is the maximal reductive automorphism group of the analytic \({\mathbb{C}}\)-algebra \({\mathbb{C}}\{\Delta\}={\mathbb{C}}\{x\}/I_{\Delta}{\mathbb{C}}\{x\}\), where \({\mathbb{C}}\{x\}={\mathbb{C}}\{x_1,\dots,x_n\}\) denotes the \({\mathbb{C}}\)-algebra of convergent power series.
