Using elliptic coordinates, the author obtains polynomial potentials, their generating function and the generating function of first integrals for a class of Hamiltonian systems considered by \textit{I. Marshall} and \textit{S. Wojciechowski} [J. Math. Phys. 29, No. 6, 1338-1346 (1988; Zbl 0657.70021)]. In particular, it is found a potential studied by \textit{R. Granier} [Rend. Circ. Matem. Palermo 43, No. 4, 155-191 (1919; JFM 47.0404.01)].
