The following operator \[ {\mathcal D}= \Biggl({\partial^2\over\partial x^2_1}+\cdots+ {\partial^2\over\partial x^2_p}- {\partial^2\over\partial x_{p+1}^2}-\cdots- {\partial^2\over\partial x_{p+q}^2}\Biggr) \Delta,\quad p+q=n, \] where \(\Delta\) is the \(n\)-dimensional Laplace operator, is named the diamond operator and the linear differential equation \[ {\mathcal D}^ku\equiv \sum^m_{r= 0} c_r{\mathcal D}^r\delta,\quad k= 0,1,2,\dots,\;c_r\in\mathbb{R}, \] is studied.
