Let \(p\) be a prime, let \(G\) be a finite \(p\)-solvable group, let \((K,{\mathcal O},F)\) be a splitting \(p\)-modular system for \(G\) and its subgroups, let \(\chi\) be an irreducible character of \(G\) lying over an irreducible character \(\lambda\) of a central \(p\)-subgroup of \(G\), and let \(D\) be a defect group of the \(p\)-block of \(G\) containing \(\chi\). The main result of the paper shows that there exist a subgroup \(P\) of \(D\) with \(C_D (P)\leq P\leq D\), an irreducible character of \(P\) lying over \(\lambda\), with the same defect as \(\chi\), and an \(\mathcal O\)-free primitive interior \(G\)-algebra \(A\) with defect group \(P\) such that \(K\otimes_{\mathcal O}A\cong KGe_\chi\). This confirms a special case of a conjecture of \textit{G. R. Robinson} [Proc. Lond. Math. Soc., III. Ser. 72, No. 2, 312-330 (1996; Zbl 0854.20010)].
