The Laplace-Stieltjes transform of the stationary distribution of the buffer content in the case of M/GI/1 queue is the first phase. The author shows that this distribution depends on the form of the service-time distribution which entails that the change of GI/GI/1 by M/M/1 is not correct, in general. Finally, the stability of the steady-state distribution function of the buffer content is exhibited.
