Let \(M\) be a compact complex manifold of complex dimension two with a smooth Kähler metric and \(D\) a smooth divisor on \(M\). If \(E\) is a rank two holomorphic vector bundle on \(M\) with a stable parabolic structure along \(D\), the authors prove the existence of a Hermitian metric \(K\) on \(E\), restricted on \(M-D\), such that \(K\) is compatible with the parabolic structure and is Hermitian-Eistein with respect to the restriction of the Kähler metric to \(M-D\). A converse is also proved. It extends the celebrated result of Donaldson, Uhlenbeck, Yau for stable bundles, to the parabolic case. The paper introduce several new ideas and technics for the parabolic case.
