On nugatory crossings for knots (Q1292739): Difference between revisions

Let \(K\) be a knot in the standard 3-sphere and let \(D\) be a diagram of \(K\). A crossing in \(D\) is said to be nugatory if we have the same knot after a crossing change on it. The author studies nugatory crossings for knots in the 3-sphere and obtains results on nugatory crossings for composite knots and 2-bridge knots.
