Let \(C\) be a smooth curve over an algebraically closed field. Let \(X\) be a group scheme over \(C\). Let \(\widetilde C\) be another smooth curve; further, let there exist a surjective morphism \(\widetilde C\to C\) such that \(X\times_C \widetilde C\) is isomorphic to a line bundle over \(\widetilde C\). The author calls such an \(X\) a group of Russell type. In this paper, it is shown that a group scheme \(X\) as above is associated with a locally free sheaf of rank 2 over the base curve. The dualizing sheaves are computed for the completions of groups of Russell type. The completions of groups of Russell type satisfying certain conditions are shown to have non-closed differential 1-forms. The corrections in the erratum (loc. cit.) remove the errors and hold the assertions of this paper.
