This paper deals with methods trying to approximate the solution of initial value problems for ordinary differential equations simultaneously at different grid points. A method implementing this kind of parallelism is based on block boundary value methods. The analysis carried out by \textit{P. Amodio} and \textit{L. Brugnano} [J. Comput. Appl. Math. 78, No. 2, 197-211 (1997; Zbl 0868.65039)] concerns the application of the methods to linear continuous problems. The aim of the present paper is the study of nonlinear problems. The most important tools are the mesh selection and the choice of the starting approximation to the solution for the iterative process. As a result, a complete scheme for the parallel solver is derived. Some numerical tests are presented.
