By a result of \textit{O. Kaleva} [Fuzzy Sets Syst. 35, No. 3, 389-396 (1990; Zbl 0696.34005)], the fuzzy number space is embedded into a cone of some Banach space. Using this embedding, the existence of a local solution of a nonlinear Volterra fuzzy equation is proved under the assumption that the kernel is condensing (in a very restrictive sense) with respect to the Kuratowski measure on noncompactness; also the existence of a maximal solution (with respect to the order) is proved, and comparison results are given. The main theorems could probably be generalized if one would use some more recent results on integral operators of vector functions and measures of noncompactness. For example, the right continuity of the function \(\rho\) in the paper is superfluous, if one applies Sadovskii's instead of Darbo's fixed point theorem.
