The goal of the authors is to prove existence of a regular solution and existence of a global attractor for the full nonlinear tearing mode instabilities in slab geometry when the resistivity depends on \(\psi\). To this end the authors give a proof of the existence of a local solution which is based on a fixed-point method. Next using appropriate estimates for solutions the authors prove the existence of a global solution and a global attractor.
