Eigenmodes of Maxwell's equation for the electromagnetic field in a bounded 3D domain representing a cavity containing an absorbing dielectric material are solved numerically by a central-finite-difference/numerical integration discretization and by an adaptation of the Jacobi-Davidson technique to non-Hermitian matrices even in the case of existence of very low-Q cavity eigenvectors in presence of highly lossy dielectric or permeable materials. Both fully 3D and axisymmetrical (i.e. 2D) situations are considered.
