The authors of this very interesting paper study the impulsively damped nonlinear system \[ (\phi_\beta(x'))'+ f(x)= 0,\quad t\neq t_n,\quad x(t_n+ 0)= x(t_n),\quad x'(t_n+ 0)= b_n x'(t_n), \] where \(t_n\to\infty\) as \(n\to\infty\), \(\phi_\beta(u)=|u|^\beta\text{sgn }u\) for \(\beta> 0\), \(f: \mathbb{R}\to\mathbb{R}\) is a continuous and odd function and \(uf(u)> 0\) for \(u\neq 0\). Some attractivity results (attractivity regions) on the considered class of equations are shown. The authors use a method established by them recently [\textit{J. Karsai}, Acta Math. Hung. 61, No. 1-2, 121-127 (1993; Zbl 0808.34051) and Zag. Drgan Nieliniowych 25, 179-188 (1993; Zbl 0797.34055); and the authors, J. Comput. Appl. Math. 71, No. 1, 147-162 (1996; Zbl 0851.34051)]. Here, the special case \(f(u)= \phi_\alpha(u)\) is considered. It turns out that the asymptotic behavior of the solutions is completely different if \(\alpha< \beta\), \(\alpha= \beta\) or \(\alpha>\beta\). Attractivity properties of the equation \((\phi_\beta(x'))'+ q(t)f(x)= 0\), where \(q(t)\) is a step function, are investigated, too.
