    Let \(G\) be a Frobenius group with Frobenius complement \(H\) and Frobenius kernel \(K=(G-\bigcup_{g\in G}H^g)\cup\{1\}\). The following results are proved without the aid of character theory and aimed at leading eventually to a ``character-free'' proof of Frobenius's theorem. An earlier related attempt was undertaken by \textit{K. Corrádi} and \textit{E. Horváth} [Commun. Algebra 24, No. 7, 2285-2292 (1996; Zbl 0856.20017)]. If \(D\) is a non-trivial subgroup of \(K\) such that \(D\) is not a 2-group and \(N_G(D)\) is not contained in \(K\), then \(K\) is a subgroup of \(G\) (Theorem A). This theorem is shown to have as a corollary that \(K\) is a subgroup of \(G\) if \(G\) is not simple. If there exists \(h\in H^\#\) such that \(\langle h,h^g\rangle\) is soluble for all \(g\in G\), then \(K\) is a subgroup of \(G\) (Theorem D). If \(L\) is another Frobenius complement in \(G\), then there exists \(g\in G\) such that either \(H^g\) is a subgroup of \(L\) or \(L^g\) is a subgroup of \(H\).
