This paper is devoted to the trapping region of the Hénon map \[ h_{a,b}(x,y)= (1-ax^2+y,bx). \] It is known that for \(|b|\) small and \(b<0\), the Hénon map exhibits a strange attractor \(\Lambda_{a,b}\). Here the authors construct a trapping region which contains \(\Lambda_{a,b}\) and show that this trapping is contained in the basin of \(\Lambda_{a,b}\). Moreover they give an exact description of the basin of \(\Lambda_{a,b}\).
