The authors determine the redshift \(z_{ m}\) at which the angular size of extragalaticsources takes its minimal value. They derive a closed analytic expression for the open, matter dominated Friedmann-Robertson-Walker model, for one of critical density with a cosmological constant, as well as for the cosmological model of \textit{B. Ratra} and \textit{P. J. Peebles} [Phys. Rev. D 37, 3406 ff. (1988)] with a specific scalar field coupling.
