Let \(N\) be the Lie algebra of strictly upper triangular \(n\times n\) matricies over a commutative ring \(R\). Each automorphism of \(N\) is uniquely expressable as the product of five types of automorphisms; graph, diagonal, external, central and inner, when \(n\) is at least 4 and \(R\) is either an integral domain of characteristic not 2 or is a local ring in which 2 is a unit. The case \(n=3\) is also treated.
