The paper under review deals with rings of fractions of (linear) Jordan algebras. Namely the author introduces a Jordan algebra analogue of the standard Ore condition. The main theorem of the paper shows that the Ore condition is necessary and sufficient for the existence of a ring of fractions. Although all this sounds quite similar to the associative algebra variant, it should be noted that the proof of the main theorem has little in common with its associative counterpart. One uses the Tits-Kantor-Koecher construction in order to get a Lie algebra from the given Jordan algebra and then builds the ring of fractions as certain derivations of that Lie algebra.
