The authors consider the difference equation \[ x_{n+1}=\max \Biggl\{a_n \biggl(\prod_{i=n-k+1}^{n}{x_i} \biggr),b_n \Biggr\}/ \biggl(\prod_{i=n-k}^{n}{x_i}\biggr), \quad n=0,1, \ldots, \] where \(a_n\) and \(b_n\) are sequences of positive numbers, \(x_{-k}, \ldots,x_0 \in (0, + \infty)\) and \(k=2,3, \ldots\). They give sufficient conditions to assure that such equation has generalized invariant. They also obtain existence results of boundedness and persistence of positive solutions. Finally, they prove that every solution of the equation satisfying certain initial conditions is periodic.
