Dynamical nonlinear discrete systems described by difference equations with a nonlinear operator are considered. The global exponential stability of an equilibrium point on bounded closed and convex subsets of \(\mathbb{R}^n\) is investigated. Two numerical functions are introduced. For the special case of linear systems, the matrix norm and the spectral radius of the system matrix are obtained for the functions. Several necessary and sufficient conditions for global exponential stability are derived. It is shown that the spectral radius of the Jacobian matrix of the nonlinear operator is the infimum of the exponential bounds. The difference between global exponential stability and global uniform stability is considered.
