For a foliated Riemannian manifold which has a transverse spin structure, the author establishes a lower bound for the square of the eigenvalues of the transversal Dirac operator. In the limiting case it it shown that the foliation is a minimal, transversally Einsteinian with constant transversal scalar curvature. Contents include: an introduction: preliminaries and known facts, the transversal Dirac operator, the first eigenvalue of the transversal Dirac operator, and the limiting case.
