The authors propose new schemes for solving the Vlasov equation using a phase space grid. This equation arises in electromagnetism for describing the evolution of a system of particles under the effect of electromagnetic fields. The model can be used for the beam propagation or collisionless plasma. The algorithm is based on the conservation of the flux of particles. Several numerical results are given in two and four-dimensional phase space and the scheme is compared with the semi-Lagrangian method. This technique is suitable for parallel computation.
