The goals of the article are the following ones: \(1^0\) to present a new direct method based on the singularity structure of the P6 equation, in order to derive a first-degree bifurcational transformation for P6; \(2^0\) to establish for P6 a contiguity relation, interpreted as a discrete Painlevé equation.
